The display of the KTM was far superior (in my opinion). It is so clear, legible and easy to navigate, even in bright direct sunlight. The KTM rev-range must be kept above 3,500 rpms where as the BMW could run strongly from 2,000 rpm. The growl and howling of the V-twin was music and not too loud.
The name of the 790 R game is lightness. Less weight means more maneuverability and the 790 R tips the scales at a claimed 460 lb wet, ready to ride. That’s nearly 50 lb lighter than the 1090 Adventure R, with the 790’s 5.2-gallon tank giving the rider a claimed 280 miles of range before requiring a top-up.

The Yamaha includes a cable-actuated throttle while the KTM is fly-by-wire, and yes, that does feel different. The KTM has a claimed 100 horsepower with 75 lb-ft torque while the Yamaha has 72 horsepower with 50 lb-ft torque. With that extra power, the KTM will run away from the Yamaha on the road.

A KTM skid plate and a can of chain lube ate up most of my KTM $500. Lol. Additionally though, I added the Touratech 1190 upper crash bars (Yep they fit), fork air bleeders, a headlight mesh guard and exhaust header armour.

Will use for single track, FS Roads, street legal hooligan dirt bike. Most likely will get a FI bike, don't care too much about displacment as long as its between 350-500cc's. I have been toying around with the thought of an FX450 converted to street legal 3. 1090 ADV R or a Husky 701 with Nomad kit (fairing setup).
